One LBS here charges 10% above MSRP for parts and accessories. One LBS here moved all my parts to a warranty replacement frame for free, but the triple FD wouldn't budge from the middle chainring until I adjusted the limit screws at home. A $6+K Cervelo P4 on display at one shop had crank arms that would wiggle back and forth with a noticeable range. At another, the front wheels on several hybrids were installed backwards. If I need cassettes, chainrings, bottom brackets, shifters, etc., they're all going to dial up QBP.
The LBS serves a need for the beginning, harried, or occasional cyclist, for sure. But offers nothing to the average BF'er here except the exclusive right to sell the bikes we're interested in, and warranty service. I value the warranty service highly and will continue buying bikes locally. But that's all - just the bikes.
