Two freds decided to jump on my wheel after i passed them. Fred 1 drafted off of me for a few minutes before dialing it up to probably 400W and dropped my ass. On the 5' hill ahead, i caught and passed him, only to have him sit on my wheel at 11mph for a while. I swung across the lane, and he followed me across. I got annoyed and blurted: you look strong, why don't you just go ahead.
Fred 2 decided to stay on my wheel for a few minutes without saying anything. When i asked him when he's going to say hello, he said "i was just having fun and didn't think it was necessary." I stepped on my moral high horse and told him there's nothing fun about getting crashed out, and i don't trust random people to sit on my wheel. He was unfazed. After a few more minutes, i got annoyed and brake checked. Yes, i'm a bad bad person.
I love stories and personal experiences like this. It's really annoying when you are going a similar speed and loosing them would involve changing your plans. Often times I will just coast until they get bored, let them get a reasonable gap and then keep chugging along.
It's really annoying when that happens during like, a tempo ride, when you're feeling good and don't want to change your pace at all.
