I'm a poor excuse for a cyclist. Today is my first day back at work after two weeks of holidays, during which I didn't ride at all, save for a couple of short errands near the beginning of my break, and a 200 km brevet this past Saturday. Shame on me! But I had a really nice time off with my family.
During my holidays, about a week and a half ago, construction crews ground off a layer of pavement on a 3/4 mile section of road that I commute on. I was more than happy to see that, since that stretch had some of the worst potholes on my whole commute. I was looking forward to starting my commute again on glimmering new pavement. Alas, construction moves slowly around here, and there's no new pavement to be seen. So, I'll be taking a 1/2 mile detour for the time being. Commute was very nice this morning, about 11C, no wind, a little gray. Nice to be back on the bike. It'll help provide some joy to what's looking like a miserable few weeks of work ahead.
