Most anything will work, but why not just find vintage replacements? Vx stuff is usually pretty cheap on ebay, Cyclone brings more. Myself, I would go with first generation Cyclone. Myself, I avoid the NOS stuff on ebay, it tends to go high (2 to 3X non-NOS stuff) and it often is not really NOS. Plus I am typically mounting it on a 30 year old bike, which is not NOS either. My last set of Cyclone components I picked up came in the form of a complete bike. Bike will depart with Vx components, Cyclone bits will stay behind.

Surprised they are broken, as that 1970s Suntour stuff is pretty rugged (I often remove it from bikes that have been beat into the ground, but the Suntour stuff is still working fine).

The new stuff looks odd on a 1970s bike to me, although I have new stuff on my 1987 bike.
