Right.. My 'optimum' plan is 'get a frame with a freaking huge clearance', most likely an origin-8 CX700, and run a Big Apple. however, my utility bike is in the shop having its wheel relaced, the beater's hub has a major wobble and is likely to fail soon, the daughter is coming home tonight, the wife wants everyone to have bikes, and one of the options i'd researched and found viable was to pick up a Denali with her discount card - which has a frame clearance of 700x32 - for future conversion (new wheels, brakes, sturdier bar, etc etc) to a theft-area FG beater bike. It isn't clear how viable 700x32 tires are for the riding I tend to do.
