Newbie needing help choosing upgrade forks

Hi All,

I am new to this forum and am looking for some advice with regards to fork upgrades.

I have recently got back into Mountain Biking, and fortunately for me the nack of it has come right back!

I bought an Apollo Paradox MTB a few weeks back and am suffering from an immense amount of hitting the bump stop in the front forks. The (stock) forks on this bike are cheap, and do not have that much travel.

I am looking to get some upgraded forks (hopefully some second hand ones off eBay). One set I had my eye on turned out to be a set that will not fit due to the following reason:

"the head on the frame is parallel, and the steerer on the forks is tapered".

I have looked around for guides on buying forks, but I am struggling to get what this really means.

Can someone please give me some insight into what I need to look for with this bike?

Thanks

Phil.
