I imagine it would be very useful for informing all those drivers who have never seen a cyclist before that the strange vehicle they are overtaking is slower than they are.

Of course, you would have to take it off when you are overtaking rush hour traffic. In that case, perhaps drivers should be required to switch on a big triangle on say, their rear window while you are doing so.
