The noise was gone for a day or two but came back. Started thinking it was the chain (KMC 710-SL) so I replaced it with another. Same thing. Damn clicking and popping was driving me insane. Removed/cleaned/regreased/reinstalled again - this time with a new GXP BB. All seemed good in the hood until the other day when the damn random clicking made a triumphant return.

As a bike mechanic, this is enough to literally keep me awake at night and I swear the next time I take these things off my bike, I'm throwing them in the trash.
That base model GXP BB is known for taking a crap. At least the older version is. But, I wouldn't doubt that the new one does, too. Every racer/mechanic I know says upgrade that BB whenever you get the funds to do so.

That's how they keep the price of the so low. A quality GXP BB should be around $100...or you could buy another $30 base model GXP BB and that would buy you another 6 months to a year.
