I would recommend trying to skip the SF to Fort Bragg portion, it was my least favorite of that section of the coast. If you go to Eureka then you will miss the Humboldt Redwoods, which is a highlight of the entire coast IMO.

Getting north of SF is difficult on public transit, and I finally had to rent a car and drive my bike north to start my tour. I know how to search for public transit option in the area, and if i have time I will take a look for you and let you know if there are any options.
