From: Fairfax, VA commuting to Washington DC

Bikes: 2010 Kona Dew Drop (the daily driver),'07 Specialized Roubaix (the sports car), '99 ish Kona NuNu MTB (the SUV), Schwinn High Plains (circa 1992?) (the beater)

The theme for today's ride was wet. No rain falling, but lots of puddles from yesterday's on and off showers. But more important, the air itself almost felt as though it was made of water. Other than that, though, a fine ride. I considered wimping out, with the impending hurricane, but decided that it wasn't supposed to hit until tomorrow. Hopefully I won't regret that going home tonight. I will have ridden almost 120 miles of pure commuting this week, which is a new high for me. Sure, that's only 3 days, but that was all the days I went in to the office this week (one day off to take my eldest back to college, and one work from home day).

Next week it is back to my multi-modal commute, as the school year begins. I think I'm actually glad for the 'rest' though; my knees seem to be feeling the strain of 8-10 weeks of over 100 miles each week. I also do my first century next weekend.

Oh, and I replaced my clicking pedals with another pair. Definitely an improvement, but still some clicking. Of course, they are used pedals, too, so it could be they're worn as well. Or it could be something else entirely... Anyone have a sense of whether it is worth rebuilding a pair of Shimano PD-505s?
