Good wheelset
Sorry if this thread has happened before, it happens all the time in the 41. Anyway, I used to be an avid mountain biker in my younger days. After a broken ankle(unrelated to mtb) and the demolition of my favorite trial and the the theft of my bike, I stopped riding for several years. About 3 years ago, I went over to the dark side and started road biking and have been biking ever since. I used the insurance money to buy a new bike, a giant xtr composite 26. Since riding my road bike, unfortunately my mtb has been turned into a commuter complete with slicks. I keep telling myself I want to start riding again but I don't have the motivation to swap tires out to the same wheel set so I can go for a ride for one day and then swap them again right after for my commuter tires. Thus my solution to get me back on the trail is to get another wheelset dedicated to knobby tires only. I am trying to find an alternate wheelset to satisfy this urge. I've recently seen some sales on mavic slr's for under 800. In the road world, this is relatively cheap, but I'm not sure what this is in the mtb world. So is sub 800 for slrs a good deal? are these wheels a good deal, or can you suggest another wheelset for me that is cheap, durable and light? Thanks!
p.s. I am running v-brakes, not discs.
