Hmmm...

1. If you like it, ride the mxl merckx. I'd make that your FAST bike and go 10sp. I don't think a reissue Merckx is special enough to treat as a museum piece. Almost none are! Unless it was built by Orville Wright, ridden in the tour de france or given to a pope...ride it and don't worry about it.
2. If either the rb 1 or paramount fits 28s, use that as a comfy bike you can use on trails.
3. Sell one (or both) and get something like a cross bike/sports tourer (if neither paramount or rb1 can do it) and buy a winter/beater bike.
