Wow, now I'm being pulled in both directions.

First off I want to thank you all for taking the time to reply. It seems as more people are now in favor of leaving in mid to late Oct. It seems I will just have to prepare for some cold weather along the way by buying some cold weather gear.

Since I want to be home for Christmas I want to be sure that I enjoy the ride versus rushing through the whole thing. I'm hoping I'm leaving myself enough time. If not, I guess I could put the trip off until March or so if timing is a real issue.

I also looked into the Souther Tier route which seemed interesting but would take a lot longer of course. If I did that trip it wouldn't be til spring because of timing... Anybody complete the Southern Tier in the past year or so? If so, how was it?
