There were just a few miles left and someone started pulling like a madman - maybe 26 MPH and though I COULD keep up, I just didn't want to. I wasn't wasted and my legs weren't cooked, but I just didn't have the enthusiasm to hammer. So I slid out of the paceline and let everybody go. Stopped at a convenience store to get a cold drink and then rode home at a modest 18-19 MPH, feeling somehow dejected. A little weird.
This happens on my group rides also. I like keeping the pace up, but I don't like the "crushing souls" aspect of faster group rides.
