The 29er hatred is beginning to climb at an acceptable rate. As soon as I feel the hatred has peaked, people will start going back to 26.
Most people aren't quite as passionate about it as you are ed.
I think the 29er trend will fade with a whimper rather than a bang. At some point it will become just another niche option, sort of halfway between a hybrid and a MTB.
