This morning I decided to take a ride on the 8.3 on some trails. On the way the skies opened up and dumped 8” diameter raindrops for a good 45 minutes. Luckily I only had to wait in the parking area in my truck for about 10 minutes. Undeterred, the rain stopped and it looks like I have the area to myself. I have not been to this park before so I was not sure what condition the trail would be.
Here is where my morning journey began.
This is what the trail started out as, nice easy dirt road comprised of crushed shell that was very tightly packed.
After a few miles I came to a small trail veering off the main road and had a choice, easy or adventurous. I chose adventurous.
The trail although narrow in places was actually pretty smooth and easy other than some deep puddles and the 15’-30’ patches of loose sand encountered every 100 yards or so.
Here is where I stopped for a quick break.
The trail than forked a couple of times and not being familiar with the area I somehow always made the wrong choice.
Here is where one of them dead ended.
Here is where another one ended which was other side of the lake/pond. Actually the views early in the morning were nice.
Then finally the end of the trip…..
According to the gps I rode 7.8 miles so it was a nice morning ride. I am sure for most of you guys that is not very far but for a beginner such as me with the loose sand and mud it was a perfect little ride.
