I suspect Teachme is worried about the heat more than anything else?

I have to say Texas has been hotter than ... well just about anywhere. hope by Oct time frame those 100+ days will be fewer. All my friends out there are suffering in the heat. It's been brutal bar none. Just keep riding and extend your miles by that October ride it will be much easier.

I do not live in Texas and can only imagine what it's like. Been 90s+ here forever and humid along with that. In Atlanta the Orange level smog alert days have been running constantly this summer. ugh.
