Don't go out and buy 700c wheels until you know for sure your brakes will reach. Even then you may loose a lot of braking power as the pads are so far away from the mounting point. I bought a new brake set with a longer reach for my '80 Motobecane and it is still to short. I will live with 27 inch wheels until it dies.
