Get well soon! Sounds like a traumatic crash, especially with those graphic injuries. But, I know this won't deter you from riding again.
To add to this, there should be stunt-man/woman training for cyclists/rollerbladers/skaters/etc, learning how to fall without incurring serious injury. Definitely, tuck and roll is good enough most times.
