Yes. I got into cycling in the early 90s as a mountain biker. Back then I had a maladjusted attraction to titanium. It was the real unobtanium metal for me - always there to dream about but much too expensive for my collegiate budget. Sure, carbon was already on the scene, but the price/performance quotient wasnt there yet. So which left us with the metals - steel, aluminium, or titanium. My first mountain bike was a $350 Trek 850 (remember those?) made w/ steel cromoly tubing. Thing weighed over 30lbs! Move forward one and a half decades and while looking to get back into a more active lifestyle, I discovered road cycling. A different financial picture and with recent occurrences magnifying that life is too short, I bought my dream bike - a Litespeed:
There were also a couple things I wanted on this dream bike that were iconic to me from my era - a Flite titanium saddle and a Thomson seat post.

I do get a silly grin every time I ride it. In fact, I like it so much, I bought another Ti, this time from the father of Litespeed himself - a Lynskey R230 frameset. The Litespeed fits me perfectly and the geometry on the Lynskey is identical save for the compact frame layout. I still view the Litespeed as my dream bike. The forthcoming Lynskey build is just icing.
