How can someone, who is paying attention, just drift off the road onto the shoulder?
Livingston County Sheriff John York says speed was not a factor. There's no evidence the driver was drinking and there's no record of texting on her phone. But for some reason, the driver -- who we are not identifying because she has not been charged -- drifted out of her lane and into the bike lane on the road. She absolutely was not on the phone. We've taken the phone and examined that. There was no phone activity.
So not speeding, not texting, not drinking... how about just "not paying attention..."
Some day drivers will understand that they are responsible for where their vehicle goes. Sigh.
