Today there was a crazy headwind along the lake on my ride in this morning. I realize that as a cyclist I have it easy here in Chicago, what with the lack of any sort of hills. But I'd take a hill over 35+ minutes of relentless headwind any day. At least a hill has the other side... often by the time I get out of work 9 hours later and go home, what should be a tailwind has died down or shifted direction.
In San Francisco you get both strong winds and of course the hills. The 'other side' is not exactly fun either though. Especially brakeless.
Also, the CX mount and dismount is pretty smooth. It's a really neat thing for urban riders to know as well. It definitely feels better to 'come in hot' and take off with a little boost.
