EA 90 SLX or WH-7900 wheels from Performance Bike?
I purchased a bike from Performance Bicycle recently and wondered what would be a good upgrade. I've been told by people I know and it also looks like people on this forum also say that a wheelset upgrade is the best thing to do. I've got WH-500 on my Scattante bike.
With Performance's 15% off, The EA 90 SLX set looks nice. I used the search function on this forum and understand Performance's set isn't the same as buying at other places. Not a big deal for me, as the price still seems good. Then I read that people think this wheelset isn't durable. Looking for long lasting/maintenance free more than saving the last gram.
I then see the WH-7900, which is more expensive but willing to pay if this is a good wheelset. Sounds like everyone thinks this set is good and bullet proof to last a long time without much need for truing. Question I have about this wheelset is what is meant by "tubeless clincher"? I thought tubeless meant one thing and clincher meant the opposite?
I weigh 170lbs and am just getting into biking, really enjoying it but definitely not out on the roads to beat people. I get passed all the time but that's OK, as it's more for exercise than to feel like I'm better than others.
Is the EA 90 SLX a good set which will last many maintenance free miles? Also wondering if WH-7900 is ill spent one something I'll never make use of, such as a Porsche for a 16 year old?
