Tonight was the worst of the series. Basically a trek/carmicael/nike/girohelmets commercial. The previous ones earlier in the week, about the racing culture, training, spring classics, team personalities from mechanics, bus drivers, and cooks, were great for the racing junkie.

In fact, the one that focused on the teams try at Paris-Roubaix, they introduced the head mechanic, an old timer from Europe whose name escapes me, had a cellar filled with tubular tires of different ages, anyway he said he had been a mechanic for Merckx back when. Inspired me to view my "A Sunday in Hell" DVD again, what a great film that is. Anyway, for the astute hardcore bike racing junkie, there's a scene at the beginning where Merckx talks to someone off camera, tells them he wants something more lower on the bike, the camera pans over, and I swear it's this same mechanic 30 years ago, looks about the same.

Pretty interesting seeing those back to back, seeing how far things have progressed, in particular how "a rare steak makes a good breakfast". Guess which era that's from?
