Bikes: a bunch, bmx, mtn, and a few classics

i left south florida at the end of june and did the atlantic coast route to charleston SC. i am not in great physical condition and had never ridden more than 25 miles before i left. it was very difficult to ride even 50 miles a day. two days i rode almost 60 and it pretty much took me all day,no matter my mileage. i was starting too late in the day. i found absolutely zero cheap or free camping spots and ended up staying in dumpy motels for all but one night. couchsurfing and warmshowers did not work for me.

i got rained on, but the worst part about the rain was the mist cloud created by passing cars, it made me feel less visible and not safe.

riding in florida was great, in georgia i used google maps bicycle routing because it knocked off about 100 miles form the ACA route. google's route used mostly us-17. riding in sc was about the same a ga but i got back on the ACA route. there really was no memorable scenery in GA or SC along the route. just a lot of trees and dead critters. there were a lot of very narrow shoulders and cars passing at 60+ MPH. there was one section near the GA/SC that had some cool bridges over vast swamp land.

here is a link to my tumbler if you want to see what i experienced: gojamsgo.com
