When I had aerobars I used a little plastic thingy from Profile Designs. It had a band that went around the bar and provided a place to mount a computer. I like your solution too. And FWIW, I think Zip Ties rank right up there with Velcro, PostIts and Duct Tape as the greatest inventions of the 20th century.
