I had a friend pick up a Nishiki Intl. for me in trade for a bike I need to get rid of. Well, he just called me on the way home, to let me know the condition, etc. He says there are two holes in the seat tube in the place where a bottle mount might go. I was alarmed as you would imagine. He says they're perfectly round, no sign of drilling, factory paint still around them, the whole deal. They're also not threaded as far as he can tell.
He is going to check to see if a bottle cage matches up to the spacing on the holes, and let me know by tonight.
Was this missed by the factory, or an optional bottle mount they pre drilled for convenience? I am puzzled, baffled even. Can anyone shed some light on this? Looks like an 83/84, so right at the tipping point when two bottle cages became the norm. I remember my newer Cyclone M-II equipped Intl only having one bottle mount though
