I've been looking for a nice steel mtb for a errand bike and found a 22" trek 930 for the frame and to salvage parts for a frankenbike for a friend. I've looked at the serial number, colors, vintage-trek, etc but I haven't had luck finding the year. The bike has front suspension that I want to get rid of and ideally I'd put a threaded headset (currently threadless) on it with the fork replacement. The bike is a dark blue non-lugged with white decals and a red background. The fork and brakes are definitely not original but I'm not sure what it came with. The angle looks a bit off so if it was the shx version they put a longer travel fork on.

My best guess is that it's a 96 but none of the usual places are coming up with anything. Any help would be appreciated, I'd love to get this one and the lugged trek 950 I have for my wife off to the powdercoater soon.
