Yesterday, I was going to get myself a new roadbike, I had been pedalling my hybrid for the past 4 months - up hills, metric centuries, etc.. and LOVED every minute of it.
It's the Giant Escape 2 - and has been a very good bike to me!
1100 miles in the past 4 months - not too shabby for an overweight guy who hasn't ridden in years... it was a gift to myself for losing 78 pounds.
The goal was to get a new bike for me, and my wife was going to ride my hybrid so we could ride together. But...
When we arrived at the LBS, they had my new ride prepped and ready to test. My wife saw a Giant Avail that caught her eye on the discount rack... don'tcha love when the old model years are ready to go? I did hesitate at first, but she's been dying to ride with me...
So she took it out for a spin, fell in love instantly and we purchased her first road bike!
So - we both get fitted (basic 4 point fit), and my Look Keo pedals moved over to my Felt Z5...
This bike is a SERIOUSLY huge change from my hybrid, so light, very forgiving in the bumps, and downright scary fast (in comparison) on the trails...
We ended up putting my old platform pedals back onto the Escape2 - and brought that back home as well... here's the back of my car after a few hours at the bike shop
We feel fortunate and blessed to have the means to do such a purchase - and honestly a year ago - fitness and health wasn't a priority in life - now things feel much more aligned and we feel fantastic! I've lost almost 80 pounds, my wife 50 - we've lost a small person! We rode 20 miles this morning, grinning from ear to ear trying to establish ourselves on our new rides...
And the journey continues...
