Technically, I think most heads are oval but what I'm speaking of is the extent of which. Arai motorcycle helmets for years had 2 inner fitments: long oval and oval. Oval wasn't as round as Shoei.

I think you did answer my question, though. If the Specialized helmets feel narrow to you but the Giros work, then I am pretty sure that Giro is more round and won't fit me. I have tried cheap Giros at local shops and they were definitely round, but I was curious about these two high-end models that CC has on sale.
