There are lots of inflated MSRP values out there. The selling price is the only thing that sets the value of anything. And that's only if the item actually sells at that price.

I've seen plenty of companies buy a carbon frame from a white label catalog for something like $500, put their brand name on it, then sell it for $2,000 and the buyer assumes that it's a made-from-scratch product. This is basic business school stuff.
