my all-time top speed is 57'ish, +/- .5 mph. I can hit that pretty regularly for the sole reason that i have a few local climbs that exceed 17% in sections. someone else can do the math, but just like all riding, i feel like the gradient (aka the potential energy to overcome drag from air resistance) has to steepen by increasing orders of magnitude to yield a marginal increase in speed.
