This was a silly response to Mithrandir. He never said all bikes are of equal value, he said all bikes are bikes. Which they are.
If you have a German Sheperd, and you want to call it an Alsace, fine. But if someone asks you if its a dog, then the correct answer is it is a dog. If you say it is not a dog, it is an Alsace, then you are fairly dense.
All the "is this a comfort bike or a city bike?" and "is my road bike a race bike or a sportive?" questions miss the point. Get over the label, and yourself, and ride the thing.
