The weather has been incredible here recently. Repeat of yesterday morning: 10C/50F, sunny, calm. Afternoon highs around 30C/86F. Just awesome.
My road bike has been out of commission for a few weeks due to a freewheel that wasn't very free, which led to a busted front derailleur (sounds strange, but it's true). I finally synced up with Sixty Fiver at his shop, and he was able to get my freewheel spinning nicely again, and replaced the FD. He even repacked the bearings in the rear hub. It's all working better than ever...almost...the rear brakes are squealing something fierce, but I noticed Sixty also adjusted the alignment of the rear wheel a bit, so maybe the pads just need to adjust (wear) to the new wheel position.
I think riding my beater bike through the parks the last few weeks has made me lazy. Being back on the streets on the road bike this morning left me wheezing a bit, trying to do intervals between traffic lights. Here's hoping for several more weeks of decent weather so I can keep riding the road bike!
Y'know, this summer, I've had so much grief over chains and gears and derailleurs, I'm starting to think a belt drive/IGH system might be in my future.
