Here is the VAR 22/3 tool I mentioned earlier. You can use it to re-thread to TA (23mm) size. I would not feel comfortable re-using cranks that need a gear puller to remove each time.
I have one of these. It doesn't tap to TA 23.0mm but rather to Stronglight 23.35mm.
