I'm pretty sure they both use the new 105 line, so you could always change that. My 2010 model has a little trouble with a 28 (max cog for that one was 27), but the 2011 and up is reportedly more lenient.
that's good to know! I'm going to see how I do on the hills over the next few weeks - if it's too much mashing, I'll get something in the 30-32 range
