What can cause a head set to index? Too many ball bearings, leaving no space between them to allow the balls to roll, rather than slide. Or, the headset is too tight. The last thing I can think of is the bearing races might be pooched, having been dented where the balls come into contact with the races.

Anyone else know what else would cause the problem?
