Awesome, someone on the internet arguing with people who live in London, and have lived in London, about London based on nothing more than "what (they) read about it". You couldn't make this stuff up. I know, I'm going to read a few web sites about Seattle and then figure I know it better than the residents.
Perhaps you've read something about the growth in bike traffic on the roads that haven't been redesigned? The road I live on hasn't changed in the decade or so I've lived there, but the number of cyclists coming through is much higher than it was 10 years ago. So there's obviously a lot more to it than some pretty blue paint.
