Replacing a KMC chain - why so difficult to find?

My 3-year-old Fuji road bike came with a KMC DX-10SC chain. After 5000 miles, it's finally showing .75% of wear so it's time to replace.

I bought the bike at Performance. The new Fuji bikes in the store use this chain. Their house-brand Scattante bikes use this chain. So why in hell do they not sell it? The local store had maybe a dozen different SRAM chains. And their web site also shows that they sell Shimano chains. But no KMC.

I found another LBS that didn't stock it either, but will order it for me (and will even match an online price of about $25).

Is it supposed to be this hard to find an apparently very common chain?
