HVLP is high volume low pressure so 50psi sounds really high, should be 25 psi. It should come out like a fine mist. A touchup gun is better for small work and tight places or a Pache, an air brush. HF has one for 10$. I have used them for model airplanes and T-shirts, body painting was the most fun at a car show.
