Naptha, basically the same as lighter fluid works great. Mineral spirits works too as does Goo-Gone and the other sticker removers. WD-40 will be perfectly fine for what you need to do. Like all metal painting projects, clean your frame afterward with denatured alcohol or bump it up to lacquer thinner. Otherwise your paint job will suffer.
