perfect example for me today was my pinarello fixie thread - i think the bike is cool - but most came in and slammed it - but whatever
the folks here - especially the experienced ones - have a great eye for the CV and are very helpful to noobs like me in discerning what value a bike might have - and i totally appreciate that - hey - if i gotta take a lump or jab along the way thats cool - its not my way - but its cool
i learn alot here - and its my fav place to 'play' so to speak
anyway - to the OP - keep it light and stick around - you'll learn alot and eventually you'll understand - its all in good fun (mostly all)
You get major props for letting it all hang out on the Pinarello thread. That took guts. You said you liked it right up front, instead of sticking a pinkie toe in the shallow end. You got an honest response - well, from me for sure - and took it well. Part of it comes down to not taking things personally - in no way should saying any particular bike is of lesser quality be inferred as a comment on the person who owns it or asks about it - I think that's precisely where a lot of the bad feelings develop. People easily take offense where it's not meant. I've made that mistake myself from the get-go - when I couldn't admit that my champagne Benotto wasn't a top-end bike, etc. A certain degree of "thick-skin" is required for this hobby (or any similar one), or it's just not the right place to be.
The Magni is a really cool bike - and I spent several hours of my life I'll never recoup researching that bike and nailing down the Chiorda connection. Including emailing Stefano, etc. I hope - and believe - you can appreciate that fact, and understand that the knowledge offered by the more astute and experienced folks here is hard-earned and offered as a true gift. And it adds to the collective knowledge, which I think is an important factor as well. I seem to rarely get complaints from folks who I save from dumping a pile of cash on something not genuine, for some reason.
