The BLACK CHILI compound found in the GP4000s and the BLACK GP4000 is not compatible with the Silica based compounds used to make the coloured versions of these tires.

If you feel that BLACK CHILI is a superior compound to their older silca based tires then your friend is correct (I agree with him).
