You are missing something. The
rules of singletrack are very simple: cyclists yield to walkers and equestrians. Period. And downhill riders yield to uphill riders. Downhill riders must always ride in control so that this is possible.
Who built the trails is irrelevant. Who maintains the trails is irrelevant. If they are open to other users, then you yield.
