Something seems awry, the low limit screw, which should be capable of adjusting the stopping point to where you can't even shift into the largest cog, much less go past and hit the spokes. Forgive me for asking but you ARE certain you are adjusting the correct screw, right? The "B" screw won't have any effect on the travel toward the spokes, nor will the high limit screw.
