yes you can use any 1" threadless headset.
there are no threads in the frame so just remove the old cups and press in the new ones.
you do need a different fork. you can
't use a threadless HS on a threaded fork and it will not be long enough to clamp anything to.
I can't believe I made such a stupid mistake! I am going to blame it on using a laptop all week and the desktop tonight
