It really depends on his build, but in my son's case, he was around 49 inches when he was 7, and was completely hunched over on his 20" singlespeed. A 24" was an absolute necessity for the 20-30 mile rides we were doing at the time.
Yikes! Thanks for the heads up. My son has a "solid" built so maybe a 24 is the better way to go. Though I don't think he will be doing 20-30 mile rides!
