Uhh... How about - easier set-up, no need for specialty tools to cut hydro housing install barbs/olives, bleed. If you got tools to set up a canti brake set up you can do the same with BB7s or any cable disc brake set up.

With cable discs set up with a set of full cable housing, not any more maintenance than a hydro brake. The same in fact. I don't do any more maintenance on my cable disc bikes than I do with my hydro disc bikes. Am I missing something here?

BB7s with Avid Flak Jackets run full housing from lever to caliper along with the correct size rotors for rider/conditions is equal to a good hydro disc brake IMO.
