It only has one job, keep the saddle from falling off. If it does that there's not much room for improvement. Other than saving weight, replacing a working post may be the least improvement possible for dollars spent.

However if you have dollars to burn, I have new some 26.6 Thomson posts, in 250mm or 330mm silver or black, and I'd be happy to take those excess dollars off your hands. email me at the chain-L site if interested.
