I had some fun yesterday on my 28lb Campy equipped '72 Schwinn Super Sport: As I pulled out from a side road onto a main route, I noticed coming down a steep hill towards me were two riders in matching kits. Since I was beginning a very slight climb, they were almost immediately behind me. Since I was out for a leisurely ride, I pulled as far to the right as the road would allow.
Well, they didn't pass. They were very polite, she on an Ultegra eguipped aluminum/CF LeMond, and he on a Dura Ace CF Trek. We greeted each other and remarked about the beauty of the Fall day. I was chatting about something as we were climbing and I realized there was no response. I turned and they were 100+ feet behind me. By the time I reached my next turn off in 3/4s of a mile, they were a good 1500-2000 feet behind me.
And I wasn't even trying. But they did look good.
